Evaluative Services
Learning Disorder Testing
We provide comprehensive assessments for cognitive skills in all areas of academic functioning from preschool through adults. Our staff includes a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and collaboration with a Certified School Psychologist. Many of the evaluations within this domain often "cross-over" with neuropsychological evaluations. Thus, a comprehensive discussion regarding the clients specific needs would be assessed. The following are some of the areas we assess.
Please note: Insurance companies generally do not cover the costs associated with testing for learning disorders, as these evaluations are typically considered educational in nature rather than medically necessary. While learning disorders can significantly impact daily functioning, most insurance providers consider the diagnosis and treatment of learning disorders to be primarily educational concerns that fall under the responsibility of the educational system rather than healthcare. This includes testing for specific learning disorders in reading, writing, and mathematics.
The assessment portions specifically targeting learning disorders (including academic achievement measures and specific cognitive testing batteries designed to diagnose learning disabilities) will need to be paid for out-of-pocket. Should financial concerns arise, please discuss this with our office as we may be able to provide information about payment plans or alternative resources for obtaining necessary educational evaluations.
