Kendra L. Sherwood, Ph.D.
Kendra L. Sherwood, Ph.D. is the founding owner of Rocky Mountain Behavioral Medicine. She is a clinical neuropsychologist who completed an extended post-doctoral training program in neuropsychology under the esteemed Dr. Arnold Purisch. She also completed informal post-doctoral training in neuropsychology at the Colorado Mental Health Institute, Fort Logan, one of two state psychiatric hospitals. Her doctoral training took place under the guidance of internationally known, Dr. Henry Soper, also with the emphasis on neuropsychology. With Dr. Soper's help, she completed her dissertation titled The Relationship between Moral Reasoning and the Neuropsychological Functions of Executive and Gestaltic Processing. Dr. Sherwood's specialty areas include severe and persistent mental illness, neuropsychology, and aeromedical psychology. She holds Post-Doctoral completion in neuropsychology, a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, dual Masters in Developmental and Clinical Psychology, and dual Bachelors degrees.
Dr. Sherwood has practiced in a variety of settings to include psychiatric hospitals, community mental health centers, and correctional facilities. She enjoys time with her family, reading a good book, and trying to salvage her flower bed (often to no avail).

Valerie Sims, Psy.D.
Valerie Sims, Psy.D. is the co-owner of Rocky Mountain Behavioral Medicine. She is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with expertise in chronic pain, severe and persistent mental illness, and forensic psychology. She is licensed in the State of Colorado.
Dr. Sims received her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University in August of 2010. She also holds a Master's degree in Forensic Psychology (2006) from the University of Denver. Dr. Sims has practiced in correctional facilities, inpatient psychiatric hospitals (civil and forensic), outpatient community-based clinics, and an integrative, multidisciplinary chronic pain rehabilitation facility. Her training and experience includes the treatment and assessment of adults, adolescents, children, and families in all of the above listed settings. In addition, she has additional training in the assessment and diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder in adults.
Dr. Sims enjoys spending her free time with friends, family, and her dog. She also enjoys traveling, baking, and performs as a percussionist with a local concert band.

Diana Luckman, Ph.D.
Diana Luckman, Ph.D. is a Licensed Counseling Psychologist with expertise in treating severe and persistent mental illness and eating disorders.
Dr. Luckman received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado in 2014. She also holds a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology (2008) from the University of Colorado at Denver. Dr. Luckman has practiced in inpatient civil psychiatric hospitals/units, private hospitals (at the inpatient, residential, and intensive outpatient levels), outpatient community mental health centers, residential treatment facilities, and a university psychological services clinic that treated both students and community members. Her training and experience includes the treatment and assessment of adults, adolescents, and families in all of the above listed settings.
Dr. Luckman enjoys spending her free time with family, friends, and her two cats. She also enjoys traveling, seeing live music, practicing yoga, and hiking in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.

Kathryn Richardson, Post Doctoral Fellow
Katy Richardson, MS (she/her) is currently a postdoctoral trainee at Rocky Mountain Behavioral Medicine. She is earning her doctoral degree from the University of Wyoming, where her research centered on interventions for parents of youth with mental health disorders. During her graduate studies, she gained clinical experience across various settings, including a sliding scale university psychology center, a private practice, and a VA hospital.
She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Jefferson Center for Mental Health (JCMH), a community mental health center, where she focused on providing outpatient treatment and conducting assessments. Her training and experience span multiple treatment settings, with a particular emphasis on the assessment of adults and older adults. Dr. Richardson is especially passionate about working with adults with neurodevelopmental disorders.
Outside of work, Dr. Richardson enjoys spending quality time with friends and family. Her hobbies include kayaking, traveling, reading, listening to audiobooks, thrifting at Goodwill, playing video games, and nurturing her house plants.

Emily Burns, Post Doctoral Fellow
Emily Burns, M.A., is a postdoctoral trainee at Rocky Mountain Behavioral Medicine. She is earning her doctoral degree from the University of Denver. Emily recently completed her doctoral internship at the Western Colorado VA, where she received training working with multidisciplinary teams in areas including psychological assessment, PTSD treatment, chronic pain, Geropsychology, and General Mental Health. Emily also has training in conducting both therapy and assessment with adolescents and adults in hospital, community mental health, private practice, and forensic settings. Emily is excited to continue to build expertise in psychological, neuropsychological, and forensic assessment.
In her free time, Emily enjoys spending time with friends in the mountains, biking, camping, snowboarding, and hiking. She also enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time at home with her cat.

Alina Hubchik-Geerdts
Alina Hubchik-Geerdts was born and raised in Colorado, and recently moved back home from Illinois after a few years away. She has been in the mental health field since 2010 working with various populations in residential care, partial hospitalization programs and community mental health centers. She received her 200 hour RYT in 2016, earned several specialized yoga certifications, and have enjoyed teaching many styles of yoga across the Denver area over the years. She is currently in her first year of grad school for clinical mental health counseling and am excited to see where that path leads to! In her free time, I love hiking, taking walks, practicing yoga, going to concerts, and spending quality time with friends and family.
Amy Calkins
Amy Calkins in Rocky Mountain Behavioral Medicine’s administrative assistant, doing everything she can to keep our group organized and functioning smoothly. She likes to spend her free time with her family, supporting her kids in all of their various activities and volunteering with her church and community.
While not doing those things, she spends her time listening to many different genres of podcasts, dabbling in many craft projects, and traveling with family and friends. She also enjoys watching and attending college sporting events, especially the Boise State Broncos!

Melissa Leeper
Melissa Leeper is our esteemed office manager, working to keep everyone organized, facilitate internal and external communications, and support the day-to-day administrative needs of the business.
When she's not working, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family and two dogs outdoors or playing board games. She also loves to curl up with a good book or to watch a good movie.

Our Amazing Pre-Doc Students
Julianna Donadio is a Clinical Psychology doctoral student at California Southern University and a practicum trainee at Rocky Mountain Behavioral Medicine. Her clinical approach is integrative and trauma-informed, drawing from somatic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, play therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques to support clients in a holistic and individualized way.
She holds a Master’s in Somatic Psychology and Dance Pedagogy from Middlesex University and brings a unique background as a former professional ballet dancer, having trained at the School of American Ballet, Juilliard, American Ballet Theater, and San Francisco Ballet, to name a few. She performed professionally with Ballet Arizona and Tucson Ballet. Julianna served as faculty and choreographer for the Colorado Ballet Academy and the University of Colorado Boulder for over 4 years.
She offers a grounded and compassionate therapeutic presence and is passionate about supporting clients through meaningful, embodied healing.
