Kendra L. Sherwood, Ph.D.
Kendra L. Sherwood, Ph.D. is the founding owner of Rocky Mountain Behavioral Medicine. She is a clinical neuropsychologist who completed an extended post-doctoral training program in neuropsychology under the esteemed Dr. Arnold Purisch. She also completed informal post-doctoral training in neuropsychology at the Colorado Mental Health Institute, Fort Logan, one of two state psychiatric hospitals. Her doctoral training took place under the guidance of internationally known, Dr. Henry Soper, also with the emphasis on neuropsychology. With Dr. Soper's help, she completed her dissertation titled The Relationship between Moral Reasoning and the Neuropsychological Functions of Executive and Gestaltic Processing. Dr. Sherwood's specialty areas include severe and persistent mental illness, neuropsychology, and aeromedical psychology. She holds Post-Doctoral completion in neuropsychology, a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, dual Masters in Developmental and Clinical Psychology, and dual Bachelors degrees.
Dr. Sherwood has practiced in a variety of settings to include psychiatric hospitals, community mental health centers, and correctional facilities. She enjoys time with her family, reading a good book, and trying to salvage her flower bed (often to no avail).

Valerie Sims, Psy.D.
Valerie Sims, Psy.D. is the co-owner of Rocky Mountain Behavioral Medicine. She is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with expertise in chronic pain, severe and persistent mental illness, and forensic psychology. She is licensed in the State of Colorado.
Dr. Sims received her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University in August of 2010. She also holds a Master's degree in Forensic Psychology (2006) from the University of Denver. Dr. Sims has practiced in correctional facilities, inpatient psychiatric hospitals (civil and forensic), outpatient community-based clinics, and an integrative, multidisciplinary chronic pain rehabilitation facility. Her training and experience includes the treatment and assessment of adults, adolescents, children, and families in all of the above listed settings. In addition, she has additional training in the assessment and diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder in adults.
Dr. Sims enjoys spending her free time with friends, family, and her dog. She also enjoys traveling, baking, and performs as a percussionist with a local concert band.

Diana Luckman, Ph.D.
Diana Luckman, Ph.D. is a Licensed Counseling Psychologist with expertise in treating severe and persistent mental illness and eating disorders.
Dr. Luckman received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado in 2014. She also holds a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology (2008) from the University of Colorado at Denver. Dr. Luckman has practiced in inpatient civil psychiatric hospitals/units, private hospitals (at the inpatient, residential, and intensive outpatient levels), outpatient community mental health centers, residential treatment facilities, and a university psychological services clinic that treated both students and community members. Her training and experience includes the treatment and assessment of adults, adolescents, and families in all of the above listed settings.
Dr. Luckman enjoys spending her free time with family, friends, and her two cats. She also enjoys traveling, seeing live music, practicing yoga, and hiking in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.

Krystal Moroney, Ph.D.
Krystal Moroney, Ph.D. is our current postdoctoral trainee at Rocky Mountain Behavioral Medicine. Dr. Moroney obtained her doctoral degree at Wichita State University where her research focused on correctional care, behavioral economics, and human sexuality. She successfully completed her pre-doctoral internship at Denver Health Hospital Authority where she focused on treatment and assessment services in both correctional and outpatient settings. During graduate school, Dr. Moroney provided services in various settings including a correctional facility, a college counseling center, and a low-cost clinic. Her training, experience, and interests align with treatment and assessment in these settings.
In her spare time, Dr. Moroney enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and cat. For fun, she goes on hikes, thrifts, and reads in various coffee shops around Denver (while enjoying a London fog or chai latte). This year, she hopes to learn how to ski without breaking any bones.

Rebecca Patterson, LPC, LAC
Rebecca Patterson, LPC, LAC is passionate about helping clients understand their present struggles, develop strategies to manage or overcome them, improve the quality of their relationships with others and themselves, make connections to their past, and increase hope for their future. She has worked with varied populations – particularly adolescents, adults, and couples – and offers in-person as well as teletherapy. Rebecca has been practicing since 2013, is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Addictions Counselor, and is a PsyD student in her Clinical Psychology program. Additionally, she is an approved provider for Prepare/Enrich couples’ counseling, and has been Level 1 trained on the Gottman Method of couples’ therapy. She has lived all over the country and internationally but has resided in Colorado since 2008. Rebecca is bilingual in English and Spanish. In her free time, Rebecca enjoys reading cozy mysteries, Disney puzzles, and coffee dates with friends.
Mia Angeliese, M.S.
Mia Angeliese, M.S. received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Baylor University and previously worked with the Waco Children's Advocacy Center. Here at Rocky Mountain Behavioral Medicine, she serves as one of our Psychological Technicians. She is currently working towards completing her Master of Science in Forensic Psychology. She is incredibly passionate about helping others and is fascinated by mental processes and psychological disorders.
In her free time, Mia enjoys spending time with her three cats, singing and playing the piano, and watching medical and legal TV shows. She is originally from Seattle and loves to hike, but is still adjusting to the altitude in Denver and working her way to being able to hike once again.

Ava Reinhard, B.A.
Ava Reinhard, B.A. received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of Colorado, Denver. Here at Rocky Mountain Behavioral Medicine, she serves as one of our Psychological Technicians. She is currently interested in pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Neuropsychology. Ava is captivated by the biopsychosocial factors that influence development, mental processes, and behavior.
When Ava is not working, she is hiking with her two dogs, reading, playing her switch, or watching horror and psychological thriller movies.

Amy Calkins
Amy Calkins in Rocky Mountain Behavioral Medicine’s administrative assistant, doing everything she can to keep our group organized and functioning smoothly. She likes to spend her free time with her family, supporting her kids in all of their various activities and volunteering with her church and community.
While not doing those things, she spends her time listening to many different genres of podcasts, dabbling in many craft projects, and traveling with family and friends. She also enjoys watching and attending college sporting events, especially the Boise State Broncos!

Melissa Leeper
Melissa Leeper is an experienced administrative assistant for Colorado Assessment and Psychological Services (CAAPS), working to keep everyone organized, facilitate internal and external communications, and support the day-to-day administrative needs of the business.
When she's not working, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family and two dogs outdoors or playing board games. She also loves to curl up with a good book or to watch a good movie.
